Is your Shopify store SEO-ready?

Scan your homepage for the meta tags, structured data, and heading issues that hold back rankings — free, in seconds.

Ten signals Google — and AI search — actually reads

This is a scan of your public storefront homepage — nothing is installed, no admin access is requested, and nothing on your store changes.

Page title & length

Your <title> tag is the headline of your Google result. Missing titles kill click-through; titles over ~60 characters get cut off mid-sentence in search results.

Meta description & length

The description is your two-line sales pitch on the results page. If it’s missing, Google writes one for you — usually a random sentence from your page.

Canonical tag

Shopify stores generate the same product at multiple URLs (collections, variants, tracking params). Canonicals tell Google which one counts, so your ranking signal isn’t split.

Mobile viewport tag

Google indexes the mobile version of your store first. Without a viewport tag, your store renders as a shrunken desktop page and your Core Web Vitals suffer.

Schema.org structured data

We check for JSON-LD and confirm it actually declares a useful type — Organization, WebSite, Product, BreadcrumbList. Structured data is how you qualify for rich results — star ratings, prices, and availability directly in Google. Stores without it get a plain blue link.

Heading structure

Exactly one H1 per page, with H2–H6 in order. Multiple H1s dilute your topical signal; skipped levels confuse both crawlers and screen readers.

Image alt text

Alt text is the only way Google understands your product photos, and it’s how you appear in Google Images — a real traffic channel for visual products.

HTML language attribute

The lang attribute tells search engines which language and market your page targets, and tells screen readers how to pronounce your content.

llms.txt for AI crawlers

An emerging convention — like robots.txt, but for AI. It gives ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and other assistants a curated summary of your store. Not required yet, but early adopters get better visibility as AI-powered shopping search grows.

robots.txt & sitemap

Not covered by this scan — crawl rules and sitemap health get a proper deep dive of their own in our dedicated robots.txt & sitemap checker, with crawl-block detection and full URL counts.

Organic search is the cheapest traffic you’ll ever get

Every visitor from Google is a visitor you didn’t pay ads for. On-page SEO is the part of that equation you fully control: no backlink outreach, no content calendar — just making sure the pages you already have are readable to search engines. Most Shopify stores lose rankings not to clever competitors but to mechanical gaps: a missing meta description here, three H1 tags there, a thousand product photos with no alt text.

These issues compound quietly. A truncated title lowers click-through rate, which lowers ranking, which lowers traffic — and you never see an error message. The fix is usually minutes of work once you know exactly what’s wrong, which is what this scan tells you.

What fixing these actually does for your store

Higher click-through from the results page

A complete title and compelling description can lift CTR meaningfully without moving a single ranking position — and improved CTR feeds back into higher rankings over time.

Rich results eligibility

With product structured data in place, your listings can show stars, price, and stock status in Google — which makes plain competitor listings next to yours look skippable.

Image search traffic

Proper alt text puts your product photos into Google Images, a discovery channel most stores ignore entirely.

A compounding head start

On-page fixes are one-time work with permanent payoff. Every day they’re in place, they’re earning — unlike ads, which stop the moment you stop paying.

Common questions

Does this scan change anything on my store?

No. The scan only reads your public homepage — the same HTML any visitor or search engine sees. Nothing is installed, no login is needed, and nothing on your store is modified.

Why only the homepage?

The homepage is where most stores’ SEO issues show up first, and it’s the page search engines weight most heavily. Issues we find there — missing structured data, heading problems, absent alt text — almost always repeat across product and collection pages, because they come from the theme.

My theme is from the Shopify Theme Store. Can it still have these issues?

Yes, very commonly. Themes provide the slots, but titles, descriptions, and alt text are content — they come from your products and settings. A premium theme with empty meta fields still ships empty meta tags.

How do I fix the issues the scan finds?

Unlock the full report to see each issue with a specific explanation. Most fixes take minutes in the Shopify admin (Online Store → Preferences, or per-product SEO settings). For bulk fixes across hundreds of products — meta templates, alt-text generation, structured data injection — that’s what the Bespop SEO app automates.

Most Shopify SEO apps charge $10–$79/month to tell you this. This scan is free — and if you want ongoing bulk fixes across every product and collection page, that’s what Bespop SEO is for.
