Uninstalling an app doesn’t un-edit your theme
Older-generation apps typically installed by editing theme.liquid or a template file directly, dropping in a script tag by hand. When a merchant later removes the app from Shopify Admin, that edit doesn’t revert itself — the script tag just keeps sitting there, still loading, still parsing, still making a network request on every page view. Modern apps that use theme app extensions and app embeds clean up after themselves automatically, but any store more than a couple of years old has usually cycled through several apps the old way.
Each leftover signature we find is worth checking: it’s a needless request and parse cost if the app is really gone, and — just as often — a sign you’re still being billed for a subscription you thought you cancelled.

No. A match just means we found that app’s code signature on your homepage — it doesn’t mean the app is orphaned. If you recognize the app and still use it, there’s nothing to do.

How do I safely remove a leftover script?
Find the injected snippet in theme.liquid or a dedicated snippet file, remove it on a duplicated theme first, confirm the storefront still works, then publish.
Does this see scripts added by page builders like PageFly after the fact?
We read the homepage’s initial HTML the same way a browser does on first load. Scripts injected later via JavaScript after page load may not appear.
